Idol food

Today i was thinking about eating idol food.. the food sacrified for idols..
can christian eat this kind of food?
then.. this topic leads me to think .. many ppl who doesnt believe in God would think christian has many "rules" .. we cannot do this cannot do that.. such as shouldnt eat idol food.
ppl think we have a lot of rules.. no freedom..
and then they question the love of God.. they will ask, if He needs you to do so many things so that you are saved, then is this true love? is your God really loving your unconditionally?
This misunderstanding scared away many non-believer, which is very sad..
In fact they dont understand.. we do all these is not because there are "rules".. we are saved and loved by the Lord isnt because we've done all these.
the only thing that christian have to "do", if you like, is JUST believe.. doing all the "good" is not a passport for being loved by the Lord. He loves us unconditionally!.
then why do we follow so many "rules" which seems to make us have no freedom? the reason is we want to please the Lord. We'd like to follow what he said and have a new life... this is ALL our choice.. He loves us so deeply that He even gives us choices whether to choose to obey him or live in our own way.. however, of course we have to bear the consequences of being "free" in this world...
sadly.. many ppl dont choose Jesus to be their lord in this world, but rather they choose themselves to be their own lord.. simply because they thought being led by Jesus means no freedom... how sad..
so back to the 1st question.. should we eat idol food?.. the answer is given in the Bible.. :)
